Description

This Mint Chocolate Mousse combines rich chocolate and refreshing mint, making it an exquisite dessert. It’s easy to prepare with key ingredients like heavy cream and semi-sweet chocolate. Perfect for dinner parties or cozy nights in!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 cup heavy cream, divided
  • 3 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, i used squares
  • mint for topping, if desired
  • oreo mint cookies for topping, if desired
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • a couple drops of peppermint extract

Instructions

  1. In a stand mixer with the whisk attachment, whisk the egg yolks on high speed until they thicken and lighten in color, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. In a medium saucepan, warm ½ cup of heavy cream over medium heat. Add a splash of warm cream to the whisked egg yolks and gently stir.
  3. Stir in the yolks with the remaining cream in the saucepan. Cook until the mixture thickens, about 2 minutes, while stirring constantly.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the semi-sweet chocolate until fully melted.
  5. In the stand mixer, whisk the remaining ½ cup of heavy cream until soft peaks form, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Carefully fold the whipped cream into the cooled chocolate mixture. Divide it into bowls or glasses and refrigerate for 2-3 hours to set.
  7. Before serving, top with peppermint whipped cream and your choice of toppings such as Mint Oreos or chocolate shavings.

Notes

Ensure the cream is cold before whipping for the best results.
For added flavor, adjust the peppermint extract as desired.
Allow sufficient time for the mousse to chill and set before serving.
