Description

This Mother’s Day Layer Cake is a delightful treat, featuring vibrant layers infused with flavor and a creamy frosting, perfect for your special celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ cups butter (softened)
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 ½ tbsp vanilla
  • 4 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ tbsp baking powder
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • ½ cup butter (softened)
  • 4 cups confectioner's sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 23 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350ºF.
  2. Prepare four 9-inch round cake pans by spraying them with cooking spray and set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, then beat until well combined.
  5. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in the bowl, and mix until incorporated.
  6. Slowly pour in the milk while continuously beating the mixture until the batter is smooth.
  7. Divide the batter equally into four bowls.
  8. Add food coloring gel to each bowl, adjusting the amount based on desired vibrance and mix well.
  9. Transfer each colored batter to the prepared cake pans.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  11. Allow cakes to cool for 15 minutes, then flip them out onto parchment paper and let cool completely.
  12. For the frosting, beat together the softened butter and confectioner's sugar until crumbly.
  13. Add vanilla and 2 tablespoons of milk, then beat until smooth, adjusting with additional milk as needed for consistency.
  14. Assemble the cake by alternating layers of cake and frosting, finishing with a layer of frosting and sprinkles on top.

Notes

This cake can be customized with various food coloring shades to create fun designs.
Make sure all ingredients are at room temperature for better mixing and texture.
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
