Description

Get ready to enjoy a flavorful slow cooker pastrami made with juicy corned beef and a blend of spices. This dish is perfect for a quick dinner and brings comfort to your table with minimal prep and delicious results.


Ingredients

  • 4 lbs. corned beef, flat cut
  • spice packet that comes with the corned beef
  • 1 tsp. onion powder
  • 3 tbsp. brown sugar
  • ½ tsp. ground black pepper
  • 5 garlic cloves, peeled, but left whole
  • 12 oz. beer
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 tsp. hickory liquid smoke
  • marble rye
  • thousand island dressing
  • swiss cheese
  • sauerkraut

Instructions

  1. Rinse the corned beef thoroughly to remove excess salt.
  2. Place the corned beef in the slow cooker.
  3. Sprinkle the spice packet, onion powder, brown sugar, and black pepper over the corned beef. Add the whole garlic cloves.
  4. Pour in the beer, water, and hickory liquid smoke.
  5. Cook on LOW for 7-8 hours.
  6. Transfer the corned beef to a cutting board, let it rest for 5-10 minutes, then slice and serve.

Notes

Feel free to adjust the seasoning to your taste.
For an extra kick, add some hot sauce or crushed red pepper flakes.
Serve with marble rye and your favorite toppings for a complete meal.
