- 1/3 cup milk
- 2 tbsp unsweetened apple sauce
- 6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tbsp apple cider
- 1 1/3 cup white granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, heat the apple cider over medium heat until it starts to simmer.
- Stir occasionally until it reduces to 1/2 cup, about 10-15 minutes.
- Allow the reduced cider to cool completely before using.
Notes
For a more intense apple flavor, you can substitute some of the milk with more apple cider.
These donuts can be glazed with a simple icing made from powdered sugar and apple cider for extra sweetness.
Ensure the butter is fully melted before mixing into the batter.
