- 1/3 cup brown sugar

- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups oil
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 3 eggs
- 4 cups apples, peeled & chopped
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F and spray a 9 x 13 pan with non-stick spray.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the oil, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, and eggs.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until well combined.
- Peel and chop enough apples to measure 4 cups; fold the apples into the batter.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan and bake for 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- While baking, prepare the glaze by combining butter, brown sugar, sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir frequently until the mixture begins to simmer, then remove from heat and cool for 5 minutes.
- Pour the glaze over the warm cake.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding chopped nuts to the batter.
