Description

These Caramel Apple Cinnamon Rolls are a delightful treat featuring sweet apples and rich caramel flavor. Perfect for a comforting dessert or a sweet breakfast!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups water, lukewarm
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 5½–6 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 large apples, gala, honeycrisp, granny smith, or another tart and sweet variety
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted, or very soft
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup karo syrup
  • 1/2 15-ounce can sweetened condensed milk

Instructions

  1. In a stand mixer bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast; mix well and let sit for 5-10 minutes to activate yeast until bubbly.
  2. Add melted butter, eggs, salt, and 2 cups of flour; mix on low using the bread hook for 2 minutes until well combined.
  3. Incorporate an additional 3½ cups of flour, stirring on low. Adjust flour by adding up to 1/2 cup more until dough pulls away from the bowl sides. Knead on low for 3 more minutes.
  4. Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and let the dough rest in a warm area for about 30 minutes or until it has doubled in size.
  5. Once risen, turn dough out onto a floured surface, shaping it into a rectangle. Roll out into a 24" x 12" rectangle (approximately 1/2" thick).

Notes

The dough can be made ahead and refrigerated overnight before baking.
For an extra rich flavor, add chopped nuts or additional spices to the filling.
Serve these rolls warm for the best taste and texture.
