Description

This Caramel Apple Crisp with Crunchy Oat Topping is a perfect blend of sweet and tart flavors. Loaded with granny smith apples, warm spices, and a buttery oat topping, it’s a comforting dessert that’s simple to prepare anytime you want a homemade treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 granny smith apples, cut into 1/2" pieces
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 8 tablespoons butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup old-fashioned rolled oats

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. In a bowl, combine the diced apples and lemon juice, stirring to coat the apples. Sprinkle the flour and cinnamon over the apples and toss until coated, then transfer the mixture to a 9" pie plate.
  3. Drizzle around 1/2 cup of caramel topping over the apple mixture and set aside.
  4. In a large bowl, mix softened butter, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and oats. Using hands or a spatula, mix until forming approximately 1/2" crumbles. Sprinkle this oat topping over the apple mixture.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-45 minutes, or until the top is golden.
  6. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly, then drizzle with extra caramel before serving.

Notes

For a sweeter dessert, add additional caramel sauce before baking.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for an extra delicious treat.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
