Description

These Carmelitas feature layers of chocolate chip cookie dough, melted caramels, and chocolate chips, offering a rich, sweet treat that’s perfect for any occasion. Ideal for dessert lovers seeking a simple and scrumptious recipe!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 30 ounces chocolate chip cookie dough, refrigerated
  • 11 ounces caramels
  • ¼ cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Slice a little more than half of the cookie dough into 1/4" rounds and lay them in a single layer on a parchment-lined 9-inch square baking pan.
  3. Press the dough into a solid, even layer.
  4. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
  5. In a microwave-safe container, combine unwrapped caramels and evaporated milk. Heat on high for 1 minute, then stir. Continue heating in 30-second intervals until melted.
  6. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the slightly cooled cookie crust.
  7. Drizzle the melted caramel on top of the chocolate chips.
  8. Crumble the remaining cookie dough over the caramel; it doesn’t have to be even.
  9. Return the pan to the oven and bake for another 12-15 minutes or until the top is lightly golden.
  10. Let cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  11. Allow to sit for 15 minutes before cutting and serving.

Notes

These Carmelitas can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
Feel free to add nuts for extra crunch and flavor!
For a rich twist, try adding a sprinkle of sea salt on top before serving.
