Description

Chili Cheese Meatball Bake is a delightful dish filled with juicy meatballs made from lean beef and ground pork, topped with cheesy goodness. It’s simple to prepare and perfect for a cozy dinner at home or a family gathering, offering rich flavors and comforting warmth.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ⅓ cup plain bread crumbs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely diced or grated
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
  • 2 cans tomato sauce, 15 ounces each
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • 6 ounces shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  2. In a large bowl, combine breadcrumbs, milk, olive oil, onion, beef, pork, eggs, garlic, salt, pepper, and taco seasoning. Mix until just combined.
  3. Roll mixture into meatballs (about golf ball size) and place them in a greased 9×13” baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, stir together the tomato sauce, chili powder, salt, oregano, black pepper, and cumin. Pour the chili sauce over the meatballs. Top with cheese.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through (160˚F).

Notes

Ensure meatballs are cooked to at least 160°F for safety.
Feel free to modify the cheese type for different flavors like pepper jack.
Serve with crusty bread to soak up the tasty sauce.
