Description

This Chocolate Chip Walnut Banana Bread bursts with flavor and is a breeze to whip up. Perfect for breakfast or a sweet snack, it’s made with ripe bananas and rich chocolate for an irresistible treat everyone will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large very ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 cup sour cream, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate chunks
  • 2 oz chopped walnuts
  • 2 oz white chocolate chunks or chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 10×5 loaf pan, lightly dusting it with flour.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the bananas until smooth and creamy.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until combined. Then add the eggs and vanilla extract and whisk until smooth.
  4. Stir in the mashed bananas, sour cream, sea salt, and baking soda until fully incorporated.
  5. Add the flour and cinnamon, mixing gently until just combined—avoid overmixing.
  6. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chunks, walnuts, and white chocolate chunks. Optionally, reserve some for garnish.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Optionally top with extra chocolate chunks and walnuts for presentation.
  8. Bake for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs. Cool before slicing. At the 50-minute mark, loosely tent with tin foil to avoid over-browning.

Notes

Ensure bananas are very ripe for maximum sweetness.
You can substitute with other nuts or chocolate varieties as preferred.
Store banana bread in an airtight container to keep it fresh longer.
