Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup quick oats
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 4 cups fresh blueberries
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2 1/2 tbsp flour
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and spray a 9 x 9 pan with non-stick spray.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, mix blueberries, sugar, flour, lemon juice, nutmeg, cinnamon, and water. Cook until the mixture thickens.
  3. In another bowl, combine the topping ingredients: flour, brown sugar, quick oats, and cubed butter. Use a pastry cutter or fork to mix until crumbly, then sprinkle over the blueberry mixture.
  4. Bake for 30 minutes.

Notes

Serving warm with a scoop of ice cream enhances the dessert’s flavor.
You can substitute fresh blueberries with frozen ones, but adjust the cooking time accordingly.
For a crunchier topping, add chopped nuts to the crisp mixture.
