Description
This homemade apple cider syrup is rich in flavor and incredibly easy to make. With apple juice, brown sugar, and spices, it’s perfect for pancakes, waffles, and more!
Ingredients

- 2 cups apple juice, or fresh apple cider
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1½ tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Heat a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat.
- Add the apple juice, brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, apple cider vinegar, and butter to the saucepan and whisk to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally, and continue boiling for 2 minutes.
- Remove from heat, add the vanilla extract, and stir to combine.
- Allow the mixture to cool completely before serving.
Notes
Store the syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a month.
Reheat gently before serving if it thickens in the fridge.
This syrup pairs wonderfully with breakfasts and desserts.
