Description

These Red, White, and Blue Berry Dessert Bites are a delightful treat featuring a flaky crust, creamy filling, and fresh berries. With an easy preparation, they are perfect for gatherings or just a sweet pick-me-up.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 packages refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract, divided
  • 1 cup + 1 teaspoon powdered sugar, divided
  • 16 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 cup raspberries
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • fresh mint or fresh basil leaves

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Unroll the crescent dough onto a 15x10x1-inch sheet pan, or use a round pizza pan.
  3. Press the perforations to seal the dough.
  4. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until golden brown.
  5. Allow the crust to cool completely on a wire rack.
  6. In a chilled bowl, combine the cold heavy cream and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  7. Whisk by hand or with an electric mixer until the cream holds a loose peak.
  8. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of powdered sugar into the whipped cream and continue mixing until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
  9. In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with 1 cup of powdered sugar, lemon juice, lemon zest, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth.
  10. Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture.
  11. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cooled crust.
  12. Top with fresh berries.
  13. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to enjoy. Garnish with fresh mint or basil leaves.

Notes

The dessert bites can be refrigerated for a few hours before serving.
Make sure to cool the crescent crust completely before adding the filling to avoid a soggy base.
Feel free to substitute the fruits with other berries if desired.
